TL;DR

This page is the code and slide companion to my Azure Masterclass video: virtual machine, load balancer, scale set, VNet, subnet, route table and NSG. The Terraform below creates 10 resources in one resource group.
Validated, not applied: on 2026-11-04 terraform validate with Terraform 1.17.1 passed for azurerm 4.14.0 and 5.12.0, and failed on 3.0.0 with Only RSA SSH keys are supported by Azure for an ed25519 public key.
The fix for that error: use an ssh-rsa key of at least 2048 bits on azurerm 3.x, or move to a current provider, where the docs accept ssh-rsa (2048-bit or more) and ssh-ed25519.
Plan and apply need a subscription: on azurerm 4.14.0 terraform plan stops with subscription_id is a required provider property; validate does not need it.
